How do you install XBMC on it?

Assuming someone who wants to tinker and play with it isn't afraid of compiling kernels and such, this link seems to imply that one could build straight Linux for the CX-01 as well.

MK802 or CX-01 overheats? MK802 uses the Allwinner A10 which is a Cortex A8 processor. CX-01 uses a Telechips TCC8925 which is supposed to be a much faster, and more power efficient Cortex A5. I don't own either device, but just based on the different SoC, I'd say reviews for one wouldn't necessarily apply to the other.
If you're just playing with software, I don't see why a technically far superior Android/Linux stick wouldn't work as a hobbyist device. Now, if you're wanting to interface it to various hardware and plan to make use of the GPIO header, then I could see the additional value of using the Raspberry Pi over that.



I don't own either one, but specs-wise, the CX-01 is a much better device than the MK802 and for less money.

I don't know lot about processor and their speeds can you please tell me if this is faster than the above mentioned devices ?

These are certainly cool, and I really want to get one to play with it, but I just can't think of an actual use I'd have for it. I feel like it would just collect dust. However, given its massive popularity, I'm sure there are resources out on them thar internets that give plenty of ideas for uses.

I guess I'll just hold off on buying it to leave more for those who do actually have a use.

I disagree. I never use Youtube and other streaming services on my Media streamer. Plus, with the advent of Smart TVs, I see no reason to cram all that stuff into the Pi.

Most people (IMO) who buy HTPC are streaming movies from HDD. Otherwise, they would buy a Roku or some other media streamer.

Right now I'm streaming my movies directly from a 2TB HDD connected directly to my TV, however.....I'm screwed when it comes to subtitles. Something very inexpensive that I can connect my HDD to that would sit between the HDD and the HDTV and insert SRT subtitle files into my movies that need them would be something I would be INCREDIBLY interested in. Is the software to do this on a RaspberryPi available at this time, or does anyone have any other inexpensive suggestions for a device that does?

That and the CX-01 both say Cortex A5 @ 1GHz, both have the Mali 400 GPU, so they probably use the same Telechips SoC. They would be the same speed. It wouldn't surprise me if they are the same thing in a different plastic shell.
