Aren't these photomags light on substance but full of ads?
Completely agree as I subscribe to all of them. Occasionally there's stuff you could use but almost all the time (like the latest American Digital Photo issue), its just fancily laid out pages that promote Canon and Nikon big way - no doubt these guys are on their payroll. Where it really helps me is in pointers to travel or photo worthy destinations. And some great pictures from contributing members or contests. But yeah, hardly anything educational on the photo stuff side.
I have had subscriptions to all of these photo mags and currently subscribe to Pop Photo and American Photo, both of which I really like. Yes there are ads and puff pieces about gear, but I find some genuinely useful/interesting content in just about every issue. Totally worth $5/yr to me.
I justed wanted to warm people about these seemingly awesome magazine deals. I had mine canceled by them, and then also with that time had my CC# stolen, so I had to get another card. There are a lot of shady deals in between the good ones and I just want to warm you people so the same doesn't happen to you.
