Aren't you BIG ENOUGH already?
Keep going in this direction and you will lose the very thing that got you here... Leave some room for DISCOVERY and a CHASE for the SAVVY. I swear greed can destroy any good thing if you LET IT.

SD is getting enough from me when I buy through their aff links and create content for site adding deals and info. Im not most prolific user but others are and it what makes SD so great.
I dont want to see fb likes sells as another revenue stream. Don't be greedy and sell ALL of our information and privacy to advertisers. Thanks |

I tell my friends and family about SD all the time, and I live in the Baltimore/DC Metro area. You're right - no one believes me when I post great deals - they always think there's a catch. Even the recent FREE MP3 Credits on Amazon that was mentioned on SD - I chipped in for them, posted it to my FB account - and waited for comments from my 240 friends. Did anyone comment? Not a one. Did anyone grab that free, no hooks involved deal? I doubt it, cause they all thought it was "too good to be true".
People are funny that way. And now some SD'ers are having a hissy fit cause SD will be tracing where they go, I have a few words for them - this is the information age, everything you do on line is tracked, and I mean "everything", so get used to it. Oh, if you really don't want to be tracked, there are ways - a few are: use Internet Cafes to do your Internet Surfing, create a new email account for every message you send and expect to receive, Don't buy anything - and I mean never buy anything online Use pre-paid burner cellphones. They all help, but still, in the end, the Federal Govenment will know who you are, and where you are, cause they have means to track, and to trace you - all from part of the Homeland Security Legislation. Personally, I think SD tracking us and helping us to inteface with Facebook will enhance both our Slickdeal and Facebook experiences online. Way to go Slickdeal - thank for giving us another enhancement to one of the best Shopping Websites on the Internet. Korian |

So what do I have to do to NOT use this type of intrusive media. I come here to get good deals, not to peddle products to my friends and family on facebook. Facebook is where you go to see what's going on in your friends lives, not shop!! I honestly have noticed that this place has become more commercial and the deals aren't as "Slick" anymore on the front page. 10% off on a widget shouldn't be front page news, just sayin'....
To think this benefits you in any way is laughable, this benefits noone but the advertising admins here. If you privacy/reputation matters at ALL, don't use this free publicity, because that's all it is to these people, free marketing. Enjoy the kool-aid! Last post for me... My brother-in-law said the he could not get any deals because they were always sold out. He only checked front page deals. That was the end of his slickdeals trial.
As far as tracking, slickdeals and facebook are the least of your worries. The minute you go on the Internet, your ISP has access to every move, message you send, image you transfer. They keep it all in case the police or feds want it. Google keeps every, single search term you use, forever. Storage is cheap. Every teensy bit of info about you (your traffic tickets, the books you check out of the library, the food you purchase) is collected by a server farm in Utah called Stellar Wind operated by NSA, and using data mining, patterns about you are sought. This is public news. It is already the Orwellian Age. I'm graduating with a masters in cybersecurity in Dec. So, slickdeals partnering with facebook and that sort of tracking is the least of your worries. They are only trying to improve revenues. |
