suggestion: notify of previous replys when replying

I would like to suggest a feature that lets you know that someone already replied to a post when you try to reply to the same post.. let me give an example as to where it would be useful:

someone asks "does it have HDMI", and 2 pages later it gets answered "no" - but unless people actually read through the thread until they see the answer, they won't know if the question was answered already or not, and may end up answering it themselves, a couple more pages down, thus creating a spam post out of what was meant to be a useful post

While its nice to have something like this, i'm not sure how you would implement something like this. Someone could quote someone else, but it may not necessarily be an answer.

I was thinking having the replies bumped to the top of the thread review that shows under the reply box when you post a reply.. but maybe something like a "view replies" button next to the post then, that would allow people to see if it has been answered or not?
