Might be worthy of frontpage. This looks like the equivalent deal from a year ago when BB sold an ASUS 2nd gen i5 with hd 3000 for $480 (and later dropped to $450). Fast forward a year later, and pricing is the same for newer tech (3rd gen i5, with hd 4000 graphics). Great Price from Best Buy. And good name brand.
Priced Right Again @ $480Smilie Thumbs up for the price point.

Unfortunately the hd 4000 "gaming" is not quite as good as last years AMD A8 6620g graphics. But atleast it's an improvement over last years Intel hd 3000 integrated graphics. So a sound laptop deal for New Tech. One of the cheapest I've seen Iveybridge this year! There was a Lenovo@ $400 for students only in the past >>>http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/77874/staples-lenovo-ideapad-z580-laptop-core-i5-3210m-2.5ghz-8gb-ddr3-750gb-hdd-15.6-1366x768-led-intel-hd-4000-wifi-n-6cell-win-7-prem

So if you don't care a whole lot for games then this is a nice strong fast laptop for most people who don't need great game performance. (It might be better to go for AMD A10 Trinity if gaming does matter. Or just stick with last years CPUs AMD A6, A8, Intel 2nd gen with dedicated graphics.)

see hd 4000 gaming comparisons to AMD A8 3500m(6620g) and others:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/587...k-review/5
HD 4000 capable of medium gaming:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/577...-preview/6

Other bargain deals to consider (if gaming matters or you just want other choices):
Acer A6 + 7670m <$400
Acer Intel 2nd gen i5 + 6850m $579 [bhphotovideo.com]
HP M6 Trinity A10 $580
Toshiba A8 Trinity $500
Lenovo AMD A8 Llano $430 [newegg.com]
Or Spend More for better specs and Lenovo, Dell, or other name brands.

Low res doesn't always mean it has a glossy screen, but in the $600 and under category you're not likely to find many matte screens. If it has a matte screen it's going to mention it, so just read the description.

$480 laptop ==> not high end. This price has become more or less the standard for budget 15.6'' laptops with decent specs and no graphics for gamers. High end screens are only ever found on laptops that cost around $1000. If there's some special requirement you need then find a laptop that has it and expect to pay the premium price. $500 budget laptops are simply that - budget machines.

How does this compare to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...ce=message
The CPU(Iveybridge 3rd gen Intel i5) is very far ahead of last years AMD llano A8 processor in sheer speed of processing. But the graphics on AMD A8 will be better for games. You will be making a tradeoff one or the other. But the AMD A8 is not too bad since it can be overclocked and feel good for 90% of tasks you do. The Intel will crush it for number crunching tasks.
And battery life will be much superior on Intel 3rd gen i5.

also overclocking it will kill battery life and make the laptop run hot

interestingly, last years AMD A6 & A8 Llano cpus can be undervolted & overclocked and even underclocked for the same or better battery performance & same low heat(38-60C) as default stock (around 3-5 hrs/ 6cell battery). But it doesn't matter since new Iveybridge and Trinity CPU laptops can last anywhere between 4-9 hrs depending on how light the tasks are done.

really. doesnt lowering the voltage usually make the cpu unstable? I have no experience with o/c these llano cpus so ill just take your word for it.
