Can you do wireless scanning with this?

I went with this one because of the duplex printing and higher DPI. The Canon prints at a maximum of 9600x2400 DPI while the Brother prints at 6000x1200 max. Also the Amazon reviews seem to indicate the Canon is better with 54 reviews averaging 3.9/5 stars vs Brother's 10 reviews averaging 3.7 stars.

The Canon was only $5 more for me (no tax at Amazon) so it seemed like the better deal. I'd also rather deal with Amazon then Best Buy, but that's just personal opinion.

I see this is advertised as a photo printer, how good is this printer for printing word//pdf documents?

Ok. I just ordered this one. I could probably still be swayed to cancel and switch to the Brother though. I could see using the auto-duplex of the Canon more than the faxing of the Brother.

I was going to buy a Canon with Fax capabilities, but for the rare times I actually need to send faxes, I'll just sign up for a free trial or get my wife to fax at work.

Bought a very similar model last week for my Niece heading off to college due to its super cheap ink, but ended up paying more for a slightly lower model.

I'm looking to get a printer for printing large .pdf documents(I don't treally need a color printer). Is this a good printer for that purpose?

Thing appears to be a ink hog. Looks like a great price, but I'm worried about the ink and not going to leave it on 24/7 wasting electricity.

If you just want to print documents only, then no. I use the 8120 model to print documents mostly and a couple of pictures once in a while. I also use the scanner and I would recommend buying this even if you just print out documents because when you do need to print out a picture its awesome.
