Belkin? Bad as Monster Cable customer service is, Belkin is worse. Belkin seems to never honor its warranty. At least the Monster Cable power strip looks nice, with its color coding. And I wonder how really more useful it is when the joule count is higher, how much better a surge suppressor is when the joule count is 3,940 joules over, say, 1,480 joules. There is no standard energy rating for surge suppressors. Any large power spike will probably fry the surge suppressor even with a higher rated load capacity. So, considering appearance, features and price, this Monster Cable is adequate until there is a real good sale on a unit like the Tripp Lite Home Theater HT10DBS, built like a tank. And Tripp Lite honors its warranty. I have my LCD TV plugged into a Tripp Lite. I would never use a Belkin power strip for that TV.

Given the price, I think this qualifies as a SD even if the customer service is poor. In general the higher the joule rating the longer the varistor should last, so getting the 1480 joules is a definite plus in my book. I have nothing against the Belkins (which I have purchased 90% of the time). They have served me well. But I think I'll try a Monster... since it isn't grossly overpriced for a change! Thanks OP!
