Best case scenario for the amd is the samsung's i5 is 50% faster, in many circumstances the samsung is twice as fast. The samsung has a ssd which means it will boot up in about 20 secs or less and programs will load about a third of the time. The samsung has performance the hp envy 6 does not.
The nice things about the hp envy 6 is that it is cheap, it is thin, it has a light up keyboard, and it is lighter than a normal 15 but it weights as much as a normal 13 or 14 inch laptop.
If size is not a factor sometimes we have an i3 2nd generation laptop of multiple brands go on sale for $330 to $370 which will have similar performance to this computer.
This is a value laptop, it is a good deal, but it still a value laptop
17w Trinity > 17w Ivy
HD4000 sucks at the lower clocks on 17w parts. ULV is where APUs really shine.
This is good enough for most people considering it. The tests when it "fails" are all cpu bound tests. Who's going to be decoding and doing heavy photoshop on this? If you are, then you probably aren't looking at this at all. This appears to be a gem because of it's graphics. That means it does light gaming. It seems to be on par with Intel's HD4000 at half the price of new Ivy Bridge intel ultrabooks. The fact that it's an Envy is also a bonus, better than your typical cheap laptop.
It is better than your cheap ivy bridge. The celeron version I think? The ones that don't have HD 4000. Also, it is better than previous gen's HD 3000 graphics. The cpu still isn't as good as those, but again, this isn't for someone that demands performance in cpu intensive applications.
