New car advise and how to find best deal please. Honda Insight, Hyndai Elantra or ???

I recently bought a mid-sized car, and I was really surprised to see the Honda Accord be cheaper than the Camry or Sonata, until I realized that there's a redesign coming out in October. Check out your Honda dealer and see if they'll cut you a deal on the current Accords...the price might be competitive with current (in-demand) smaller cars.

So many replies...so little time. Sorry I'm late on responding. I've been on the road. Thanks all for the advice. To try and address some of the points and questions...

I'm hoping for about 40MPG, minimum 35ish I guess. My TrailBlazer gets about 20, so anything is better than that.

I don't do too much long distance driving, I only have a 15 minute highway drive in to work. I do more local driving than highway I guess.

As a fellow Michiganian, you will understand that I have my preferences. I will not buy a Ford. GM is #1. The fist dealership that I went to was Chevy. However, it appears that their hours suck. They were the only dealership that I looked at last weekend that was closed. I don't like that. I want one that will be available on my schedule, or close to. Some M-F 8-5 crap isn't going to cut it.

I'm leaning towards the Hyundai. It sucks that they are connected to Kia, but I think I can get over that. I really like their warranty (and hours)!

I honestly wouldn't write off Chevy just because of that one dealership. The dealers in my area (3 or 4 of them in metro Detroit suburb) are all open on Saturdays and open late Mondays and Thursdays. Look for another dealer if possible.

There's on closer to my house, I'll check them out. I went to the Troy Motor Mall last weekend since they have every manufacturer represented there. Didn't want to spend all day driving around you know.

Isn't a Kia just a more baseline version of a Hyundai? Similar to how a Lexus is a better Toyota?
