Need help with Monitor Purchase (likely Catleap)
Hi, I am looking to buy a 27 inch monitor for my late 2011 Macbook Pro. I initially was considering purchasing a thunderbolt display but given the high price tag started looking into cheaper but high quality alternatives. I have been made aware of the Catleap initiative but am a little confused over the differences between the different monitors. I have the macbook pro with AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 1 gb of memory so I think I should be able to run the monitor without a problem. I know most of the monitors have only a dual link DVI input. What kind of converter would I need with my thunderbolt mac? There are so many links to different catleap monitors. I have tried to peruse the massive OCN forums post on these monitors and am a little overwhelmed. I recently saw a post on SD for a Q270 Lite for 280 shipped. Do I need the expensive dvi to displayport cable even though my graphics card can handle this monitor? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

all I can say is that you'll think the catleap is total junk build quality compared to your macbook pro. but the screen it self will be awesome.

If you need to drive a dual-link DVI display, there's no getting around needing this adapter or something like it:

It's not as if passwords are traveling by camel after they've been stolen, going to the bad guys, and so there's, like, some weird eight-week window, like, oh, we're going to change your password so that the stale password no longer works. ... And all this does is make IT people despised because users, who are not dumb, they think, why am I - why do I have to do this? What problem is this solving?

It looks like there is no way around the cable ao that will add almost another hundred to the price. Any recommendations on which monitor to get? Which one is most aesthetically pleasing?
