It's always an extension cable. If it's a newer case design, it plugs into the new USB 3.0 motherboard header. If it's an older design, the internal header specification wasn't finalized, so the cable has a USB 3.0 Type A Male plug that plugs into either a port on the i/o backplate on the rear of the computer or plugs into an internal USB 3.0 card that has Type A Female sockets.

Snagged one of these as soon as I saw the promo code in my email. I'm tempted to grab the gold rated 1050w PSU from them also but not planing a monster build any time soon.

Rebate may need some calling to get. Good price before rebate though.

Yeah, price before the rebate is why I pulled the trigger, I will have to put up a reminder for this rebate, its tricky, the form states: Cougar usa will keep all non-approved rebate information up to 3 months from the last valid rebate date for inquiry, after 3 month, we will not be able to answer any non-approved rebate inquiry.
, but it also states: allow 12-16 weeks for processing, here is another: Please do not call or inquire status before 10 weeks for your rebate status. we will not have an answer for you.

So, better not forget to check the status after 10 weeks, there is only a small window to check before they trash it, that is if something is wrong, for in-house city of industry rebate I would be very careful.

I have done a rebate with compucaseusa.com before, but for a different subsidiary (hec). It did indeed take them forever to pay, and required a bit of fighting. mailed on 10/5/11 and check finally arrived on 3/3/12.

Evidently, they require the Invoice with the Invoice number shown. The receipt that you print out from NewEgg does *not* show the invoice number on it. I circicled the order number, but that was not correct, so they disqualified it. I ended up sending a screen-shot of my order status dashboard, which is the only place that the Invoice number is show. They did eventually approve it.

Looking at the new rebate form, they actually state that you need to circle the invoice number vs. the order number. The only invoice that NewEgg provides is the Invoice email, which they send out about a day after the order ships. Usually emails don't qualify, but maybe it's the one to use. Or maybe NewEgg has another official invoice?

Anyways, be very careful...you have been warned!!

I noticed that with a rebate that specifically required the invoice# about 6mos ago, but now when I print the invoice from their account page, the invoice #'s have been in the upper left corner since then. Just gotta watch the fine print, some people make you circle things, and jump through hoops, but that's the rebate game sometimes. Heck, I have to contact newegg once amonth for some rebate or another due to the number that I do every week, the small percentage that go dormant so to speak, and some places are def. better than others.l
