Help! : Need Good home phone + Unlimited everything cellphone plan.
My cellphone contract with T-Mobile ends in September and I'm thinking of ditching contractual plans and going for something that I can use without worrying about ETF.I'm in a family plan with my dad and mom. Dad's retired and at home mostly and mom never takes her cellphone to work. So I've decided to get a home phone connection for them with national unlimited minutes, and turn their cellphone numbers into prepaid plans, just so that they keep their numbers. But a home phone would make much more sense for them. As for me, I've decided to go for a talkplan that offers unlimited everything for around $50. The only one I've found so far was Straight Talk, but I've been reading up on them, and have come across A LOT of negative reviews. Does anybody here have any experience with them? I'm looking for a GSM plan that will offer me unlimited everything for around $50. It has to be GSM, because I have to be able to use that cellphone abroad. As for the home phone, the cheapest I've found was $30 from Sage Telecom [sagetelecom.net], which after taxes and all will come to about $40. My goal is to find something that will cost us $30 AFTER all taxes for unlimited national. Is this a realistic price? We don't care for all the extra premium stuff... Someone recommended Magic Jack or Ooma, but I don't care to have my dad leave his PC on 24/7 to be able to run Magic jack, and with Ooma and Magic Jack, if his internet stopped working, he'd be without a home phone. And at my parent's age, I don't want them worrying over crap like this. Though that Ooma looks pretty enticing. $170 for unlimited lifetime national calling! ![]() Anyway,I'd appreciate all the help I can get. thanks. P.S- please don't recommend Skype or Google Voice. The cheapest cell phone service I found is from Consumer cellular. But you are limited to the minutes. If you are looking for a smartphone that will give you unlimited text, data and minutes there is StraightTalk from Walmart. $45 flat fee per month, but an initial phone investment up front. And for home phone if you have a cables service available the cheapest will be the magicjack $19.95/yr plus the price of the unit. |
