it's not the CPU that supports it, it's the chipset/motherboard

you could put that in a motherboard that only has SATA 2

you could also put it in a motherboard that has SATA 3, but chose not to use it and used the SATA 2 ports instead

through the magic of google, i was able to find out that your chipset is the intel HM65 Express chipset. the good news is that it has both SATA 3 and SATA 2. whether samsung decided to use the SATA 3 port, i dunoo..

man, bought the 240gb yesterday night and already have buyer remorse Don't know if it's because it's an older laptop (c2d, 4gb, win7) that I don't really feel like upgrading anymore or that I don't complain that it's slow to boot up or launch an application, I might just return it.

Carbon Copy Cloner is great. It used to be "donation ware" but they charge now. However, there's a free trial period, so if you're just migrating your hard drive once... Also, my understanding is that you can download the older version which doesn't have the trial period, but I haven't tried it:

I am told by a more technically oriented friend that CCC does file-level copying so you don't need to worry about potential issues when cloning at bit-level.

my laptop simply flies with the SSD...man, I am so glad I made the switch...

Got my 64GB MicroSDXC today, popped it in my Thunderbolt (running the ICS leak) and it formatted easily on the phone to the full size. Maybe I can get some more life out of this phone yet!

SanDisk Extreme SSD 120GB SSD is $80 again, just ordered.
