I haven't heard reports of this at all down in Austin. In Dallas, yup, not down here though.

Also, Frank serves some of the most amazing hot dogs and poutines I have ever had. You should also check out Mozart's cafe, it has breathtaking views and relaxing environment.

Won't get into Austin until later Saturday so will probably just grab something easy Saturday night.

Not really the kayaking type but would be interested in watching. My city will be opening the largest urban white water course in the world next year so interested in seeing it.

If you're thinking it'll be any whitewater, it won't be. Just a bunch of people paddling around a very calm lake downtown.

Franklin's BBQ. Hand's down the best place if you like brisket. They're open until they're sold out, so show up early.

I heard salt lick was pretty good but we didn't rent a car last time we were out there. They do have a food stand in the airport which was pretty good though. I would also check out the theater which escapes my mind now.

Franklin is definitely the place you need to go if you want good BBQ. Your bbq pallet will change forever after eating at that place. I recommend lining up at 9am. We're pretty much going back to Austin next month for that place.

Last time I was in Austin, I was very tempted to buy a brisket from their stand in the airport, as they seal it up so it can go in your carry on bag. But after the mediocre BBQ at their Austin restaurant I decided to pass. DH was not happy.

Go to franklin for bbq lunch if you have the hours to stand in line and can stand the heat. Salt lick in driftwood is great but is a good hike, especially in traffic.

Bats, capitol, state history museum, lbj library, ut art museum are the obvious tourist things to do. See if you can catch a special show at alamo drafthouse (quite a long, song along). They do a segway your of downtown that I always see.

Lots and lots of food options, pick something you want and find a place on yelp.
Into bacon? Hit Bacon, a new place west of downtown. Want mexican? Venture east of I-35 for a variety of options
