New tablet w/ android 4.0.3 cannot download flash player

Lilban17 62 38 August 22, 2012 at 07:36 PM
I just bought an Acer A500 tablet. It is running on android 4.0.3.
I am unable to play online video, I think is this due to no flash player.
I cannot download flash from google play store because flash player is no longer available for download after 8/15/12.
Is there anything I can do to view online video? thanks

This article links to an adobe page [adobe.com] where you can get it! Use is cautiously especially as it gets more out of date as it will pose a significant security risk for your device.

Be Careful - You might get labeled as a domestic terrorist if you get it from an FBI seized or monitored Android market... http://www.pcworld.com/article/26...tions.html

Flash is a steaming pile of crap anyway. I've disabled it in Chrome completely on my laptop. So how do you get around this on sites like youtube??? Easy, sign up for youtubes html5 opt-in trial. www.youtube.com/html5

That should cover about 90% of the videos you want to watch.

I agree with Brbubba for the most part. You can sideload flash player if you get a browser that supports it and your device (not a ton do anymore). I don't have flash on my Nexus 7 and don't miss it either.

What website are you trying to view video on? it could be a different technology.

Sorry Bro, it doesn't exists anymore. Adobe isn't too amused with Google's choice of HTML.

It's not just google, Apple is also saying bye bye to flash.

If Adobe doesn't like it, they should have been working on a product that is actually optimized to work correctly. Not to mention that both Google and Apple blame Flash for just about every crash users experience.
