The router was about $20 cheaper when this coupon code first came out. Newegg quickly bumped up the price. I was too slow pulling the trigger. I haven't bought it at this price because I'm still pouting. I probably will before the end of the month (I think that's when the coupon expires).
Just wanted to comment that this is one wicked router. I bought one to replace my E3000, which was working just fine BUT it couldn't handle the FiOS connection I have (150/65). I know it was the router because when I used the Verizon supplied router, I got full speed, but when I put the E3000 behind the ONT, I could only pull about 130/65 at most. Bought this after reading reviews and was able to max out the connection. I highly recommend it!
What's the best router out that supports ddwrt or tomato?
I don't know if it's the best, but from my research and experience, the Netgear WNDR3800 is a great router, and it supports most major types of open-source firmware out there, including Tomato, as well as Gargoyle (what I currently use). It has a very fast 680MHz CPU, and plenty of flash memory and RAM.
EDIT: Searching for wndr3800 and tomato, it seems that Tomato support is incomplete on this router.
