Can I change 7-Zip's default icon?

Can I change the default icon of a rar/zip file? I tried the 7-zip manager program but that didn't seem to work. I'm using Windows 7.

The default icon looks like this:
[imageshack.us]

Uploaded with ImageShack.us [imageshack.us]

But I would like a folder icon with the image of a zipper or the words RAR. Can I do this? I know I can change the icon for shortcuts, but what about files?

If you right-click and select "Open With" and pick WinRAR, the icon doesn't change?

I'm using 7-zip instead of winrar. I liked the icons of winrar, but this default icon of 7-zip is just so damn fugly.

The icon you posted is not the default 7z icon. It's what windows shows when it doesnt have an icon for the program of the icon is broken. I have gotten this on my W7 pc once and it was a problem of the settings being changed while not running the program as an admin. So the first thing I would do is to go browse out to the root of the 7z program and run that as administrator. make your changes and see if that helps. If not you might follow one of these guides that I found with a simple google search.

Thank you. When I would open 7-zip and click some options I always got an error message. But when I right-clicked and opened as Admin and made changes, the icons in my folder changed!
