Not true. Both Civ V and Civ IV activate on Steam (just be sure to click to the Steam-enabled SKU [amzn.to] for the Steam code). And those subs on Steam work for Mac.

I checked Bronasium [thebronasium.com] before I bought and can confirm with my own Steam account on my Mac that I have access to them.

So I just order it normally from Amazon and then I choose "Just Need Keys" and use that key for Steam? That's it? BTW, I'm interested in the GOTY edition and I don't see the big triangle you're all talking about.

the expansion for civ5 i understand closed the gap a lot, but IV is still better.

I'm waiting for a "gold" or "complete" or whatever on civ5, to get the expansion with it & try agian. I haven't played it since it first came out, on a friends machine while they were out of town, and ... blech. He doesn't play it anymore either, though he still plays IV and Revolutions a lot. That says something IMO.

ADDED: though now I see even the reviews after "goads and kings" are mixed. To be fair, Civ IV really needed a second expansion, BTS, to really come into its own as an all-time-great game, before that there were a lot of struggles with AI, balance between alternate victory paths etc (and of courwse there still are some). So ... maybe I will be waiting for a SECOND expansion to V?!?

It was probably an EWOK unit. Are you sure it wasn't that? I hear they can be very pesky to mechanized units.

If you mean GOTY for Civ V, then there is only one SKU it will activate on Steam so don't worry. Just get the keys and paste them in.

If you mean Civ IV, just use the Steam key SKU [amzn.to] and you'll be set. If you want a DRM-free download, then you can use the one in the OP.

I'm sure the "super ultimate" edition will be available in under 6 months with all the DLC + G&K. I am a fool and paid full price for both.

I wouldn't count on another expansion pack, Civ 5 has been panned so badly they are likely looking to sweep it under the rug and already working on 6.

Oh, and I bought this game 2 years ago and just got a 660 TI and I still can't play this thing at max graphic details. You need a supercomputer. Hopefully they code the next one better.

I haven't tried the Civ V expansions yet, but Civ V base game performs fine for me using just a Radeon 6870 and a Phenom II 965 BE. I don't remember if I maxed out the graphics or not, but I usually go as high as I feasibly can.

Well, then I wait and extra 3-5 years then for civ6 to come out & bugs ironed out. Probably better for my health and career anyway -- no more spacing out in meetings because I stayed up til 3am to play just one more turn -- I came "this close" to self-admitting myself to CivAnon [youtube.com] after BTS came out

I got the Civ V: GOTY edition and got the key. Hoping that will activate on Steam. Can't try it at work as they have Steam blocked off. =/
