That store is not available here in the East. That's more of West store. Target deal is better and you don't have to deal with any restocking fees. Target gives you 45 days. $249 and the $299 deals are good. This deal goes beyond labor day and ends on 9/15.

$299 is 30% more than $229. Out here for $300, you should be talking 2nd gen core I3 .But our Targets only have 2 or 3 Gateways and their locked in a little case.Whereas Fry's and Microcenters have a hundred to choose from.And if an additional 30% is no big deal,then why stop at $299?Jump to $400.

That deal you have there $229 will require those to buy extra RAM for it. Best it came with 4GB and then they would need to spend $24 bucks to get extra 4GB for 8GB total.

For anyone who purchased this, does your laptop have issues with the fan turning on for a few seconds and then turning back off? This happens rather continously. The laptop doesnt overheat, but its just annoying. Is this normal?

On or off the battery? What did you set your Power Saving too? Is there too much dust build up in the fan area or air ducts.

I got the second laptop from a completely different target, many miles away. I was surprised they even had one in stock. I can still take this second unit back to a target that has stock. This is the other part of why I am kind of over doing another exchange. It would mean I have to hunt another unit down and that takes too much time.

I think I have accepted that our drive is going to stick out a little bit. Btw, the display model for this laptop was missing the DVD drive...I wonder why.

Display is just a dummy laptop. In case of theft in the store. Yes it's a lot of work to drive around and burn gas to find these models. But if you want to save money and get the good feeling that you made a deal then your going to do it no matter what. This model they have one right near me in the box brand new. And 3x of the ACER model that are $299.99 too. Target had external DVD Writer for $34.99 on clearance. Like everything was on clearance in the electronic department.

Bought this like 2 weeks ago, but Target is suppose to have a "45" day return though..hopefully.

Anyways, I want to return it eventually. The Space bar doesn't register an input when you press it anywhere but the center. So I would press it on the side like a normal person while typing and it wouldn't register at all. I was wondering if you guys got this problem as well?

Does Acer have a 1 year warranty on this laptop? How do you go about activating it? Does it have to be activated within 30 days of purchase?

I would say I also don't like the touch pad's texture, I got use to it a little bit but just saying.

I got the $250+tax laptop for my wife and thought it was a great deal...until I got the $280+no tax Lenovo from Newegg, which BLOWS the Acer out of the water.

Need your help ASAP please -- have to make a decision by Saturday. As a reminder, I bought the Target Gateway 15.6" Laptop PC (NE56R13U) with 320GB Hard Drive, 4GB Memory for $249.99 in early August. It never worked/booted and I have been very patiently waiting for stores to get more in. Since all stores tell me that model has now been discontinued I have been offered a replacement. My 1st replacement offer was Acer Gateway 15.6" Laptop PC (NV56R06U) with 500GB Hard Drive, 4GB Memory (the one in this thread). Unfortunately, it was sold out when I got to the store. So, my 2nd replacement offer is the Acer Aspire 15.6" Laptop PC (AS5750Z-4835) with 500GB Hard Drive, 4GB Memory. I'm not too pc savvy, so could someone please compare the 2 and let me know by posting or by PM if I should take the Aspire? I will mostly use it for surfing, playing FB games, emailing, YouTube, opening multiple PDF files simultaneously and the occasional movie.

I look very forward to hearing everyone's advice. Thank you very much!!
