Dish Network $14.99 Welcome Package
Hi All - I tried to respond to the original Welcome Package thread but the thread was too old.. Just want people to know this is still an option and you do not have to be a current Dish customer. Here is my response to the old thread--
I think this is a great deal - I got hooked up with it yesterday (after getting really tired of constantly having to adjust the rabbit ears for the few local channels that I can get!) .. I'm really pleased with the amount of channels for $15 -- I get the channels listed above and also The Learning Channel, Animal Planet, MTV2, Home & Garden, Game Show, Style, HDNetMovies, CountryMusicTV, Hallmark, MSNBC, -- more channels than I thought I would..
I want people to know you don't have to be a current Dish customer. I bought a dual tuner DVR receiver off craigslist for $40 and called Dish to activate it (I moved into a house that already had a dish installed on the roof). However, I had to call for tech support installation because I didn't know that my cable lines were cut up at the the satellite dish. So the initial activation call was $22 (first month of $15 plus thankfully the rep talked me into paying the $7 tech support insurance just in case I had problems getting this going by myself, and I can cancel the insurance next month). And I had to pay $15 for the tech guys to come replace the cable lines, which was well worth it because they also gave me 2 new remotes (receiver didn't come with remotes). There is no 2 yr contract required.
Anyway - it's a great deal, especially if you already have a Dish on your house (don't know how much installation is if you don't).
