Every time one of these comes up, just search for previous obd2 threads where you will discover for $10 you can buy a wireless bluetooth device that will work with any smartphone and give you far more information/abilities.

Not everyone on the planet has a smartphone, or wants to use it like that.
Decent reader for $20, Amazon has matched it with the Autel MaxiScan, which gets good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiS...sim_auto_1 I prefer using Actron readers, but I suppose $20-25 is the right price point for most people. Worth the price even if you just use it once to fix something rather than pay the $40-80/hr for the diagnosis, then the markup on the parts. |

Lots of laptops have bluetooth as well. And ipad/tablets as well. The bluetooth makes sense for those with these devices. The original post makes sense for those without. |

So when I have my hood popped, tools every where and on side of the road I should pull out the old $500 Ipad. Gotcha. Or just plug this in and in 8 seconds have the code. |

On a side note, I scored this for $6.75 at my local thrift store... They had a bunch; looked like a bunch of returns from a store... Packging said opened but, it was brand new.. I am not TC just sort of braging :-) LOL..
