Klipsch 2.1 Speakers : Blown Speaker?

Jedi5 1,335 August 25, 2012 at 03:58 PM
I'm so bummed. I think I have a blown speaker.
Listening to a song today and noticed that one speaker on Klipsch 2.1 [klipsch.com] is louder than the other.

Checked settings and balance was fine.
Checked connections and the connections *looked* good.

Is there a test I can do or anything someone can suggest to see if the speaker can be fixed or saved? Is there anything I should look at?

thanks

How older is your ProMedia? They are amazing speakers (and that's what I use), but they have a huge problem with their cables. You can google them and find out more. If one speaker is just louder than the other, then you can control the balance on the speakers [microsoft.com] using Windows sound option

Thanks.

No, it's not the balance. I've checked and doubled checked.

Speakers are about 8 months old,if that.

I've taken the cover off... I just don't know what to look for.

Help?

If the speaker is blown, there's nothing to look at or to do about it, apart from replacing it.
I'd be surprised if they guarantee them against blowing, but if they are on guarantee, by all means, send them in for repair or replacement.

Thanks.

Bought these on BB online and just checked and I did find my order which I placed on 11/11.

Should I email or call Klipsch? Not sure which one will give me a better chance of returning or exchanging the speaker.

Klipsch will take care of them 100%. But if you can hear it, it is not blown, unless it sounds crackly. When a speaker blows typically the contacts melt and you get no sound at all. Sounds like the crossover is having issues. Klipsch will make it right though, there are advantages to buying the best.

Yes, there is sound.
Doesn't sound crackly, just very very low.
Good info to know.

I'm going to contact Klipsch later on today when I have time.

Thanks again!

Probably something wrong with the DIN plug. Try wiggling it around?

Contacted Klipsch and within 1 week, I had a new speaker.
CSR was above top notch. Very helpful and quick to respond to my emails.

So glad I went with Klipsch when I was looking speakers for my computers.
Positive reviews after positive reviews on Amazon, BestBuy, AVS, here on SD, and tons of other sites. Speakers are first class and their customer service it top notch.

If anyone is looking for speakers, don't think twice about buying Klipsch... these speakers rock!

Thanks again to all who helped!

Maybe pay a slight premium for their product, but highly excellent support.
