Best Gaming TV

I never understood why people wanted big gaming TVs. If your main goal is gaming with your new device, which it sounds like it is, go for a larger computer monitor because it will be better for gaming in every way. I play on a 24" monitor and think it's the perfect size, but you could certainly go a little bigger. When you're playing on something like a 40" TV, you've got lag from poor response time, you're physically going to have to look around the screen more to see everything and you'll have mediocre sound quality. I would suggest a nice monitor and a 5.1 surround system or head phones, should run you the same or less than your big TV for price.

If gaming isn't your only goal, then you've misled me with your post and need to provide more info.

i should have included that i do also watch sports and movies on there. i just want the best quality all-around TV, but not one that diminishes the gaming experience. the TV needs to be 40'', and i am trying to find the best gaming TV for that size

Well gaming means response time and you have a choice of two display types that actually have computer like display times.

1) DLP, but the don't make them in that size, so nix on that
2) Plasma.

So what you're really looking for is a 40" (probably 42") plasma that's offered by a store that doesn't also sell toilet paper and motor oil.

because everyone huddled around your 24" playing split screen is so much fun.

being both a pc and console gamer, there is something nice about lounging onyour couch and playing that you don;t get from a pc.

I agree. I like my 23" monitor for PC games but I rather prefer relaxing on my couch sitting 12' away from my 55" LED.

He never said anyone else was going to be playing, and I never said anything about a PC. You can lounge and play Xbox on a computer monitor, it's exactly what I do.

Lounging is a state of mind, man...like, you can totally lounge and use a computer monitor at the same time, man ::puff puff::

i will be playing co-op at many times. as well as watching movies occasionally. however, i most care aabout the games

Look for 4ms (or lower) response time in the specs - anything above 8ms you should run far away. Picture quality is all pretty negligible in new TV's these days.
