That's incorrect. The $5/mo discount only applies to the iPhone, not any other device.

The HTC EVO V 4G is also on sale at RatShack for $229. Best deal on this handset so far. If I could find a valid promo code, I'd probably go ahead and order one.

Also, you can whine about Virgin Mobile's reception and speed all you want, but the fact remains that many people have great reception and internet speeds. Also, you basically get all you can eat data with Virgin instead of the small pools you get with Straight Talk unless you pay more. You have a hard time beating $35/m anywhere.

Saying "many" people have great reception is meaningless. I'm in the Chicago area and my data speeds are horrendous compared to what I had with T-Mobile and Verizon. Therefore, I have every right to whine. But I don't -- because I'm still on the $25/month plan, and I realize it can't be touched, and me sacrificing data speeds during the day is the price I pay for dirt cheap service.

They're not making it easy to stay grandfathered, obviously. I bought a new phone before the 5/27 deadline. But it had a defective touch screen within two weeks, and they tried to say I couldn't keep the $25 plan if it was replaced. Under warranty, even! That took about 2 hours worth of customer service phone calls to straighten out. And then they deactivated my plan anyway one day, necessitating another 3 phone calls. Ugh.

FYI, the phone is still on sale at this price until 9/8/12. I'm suspecting that Radio Shack will keep this phone on sale each week until Virgin Mobile stops offering it for 20% off on their site.
