Thread Details

TWC is now offering free upgrade to their new 20 Mbps Turbo plan for free for 6 months even for existing customers. I was in a promotional offer for 6 months with their old 15 mbps turbo plan for 6 months for $39.99. When it ended yesterday and my current bill showed up for $49.99 for turbo, I had a chat with the csr and the csr offered be another 6 months of free upgrade to their new turbo 20 mbps for $39.99 per month. Try it, best of luck.

Add YMMV to the title. When I signed up as a new customer, I bought the 10 Mbps plan and they upgraded to 20 Mbps for a year.

who did you talk to to get this? was it retention department?

I called but they said I have to go to a third party to get this deal. The best they were able to offer me was 6 months turbo for free

You can do either, it's $7/mo if you rent a modem/router from them.

I was on the 10/1 plan for 39.99 called in and asked if I can get the new wideband 30/5 for 49.99 (it showed up as $20 extra on my account for existing customers and 49.99 for new) the guy told me he couldn't do that but he can offer me turbo 20/2 for 6 months free and then upgrade to turbo for $5 extra after 6 months. I tried with online chat and the rep told me she couldn't make offers over chat and that only a customer support person on the phone can. I didn't get connected to retentions just regular customer support.

just customer service sucks.always call retentions even if you are not a current customer and explain the situation. You get to retentions by going into the menu and choose current customers and say cancel my account. I always say my current contract with my provider is about to end and I was looking at different companys and a buddy of mine got a great deal 3 days ago and I was wondering if you can replicate that for me. He got standard for 29.99 but got 1 year free turbo added on to his as well as free installation and free router. Then they will check for promotions, they said the best they can offer is 6 months turbo $29.99 and the lady said almost always after the 6 months is over they will almost always be able to replicate it again if you say you want to cancel. This should always work unless the promotion is gone

In my area (Milwaukee) there is no rental charge for the standard modem (Motorola).

Seems to depend on locale. They provided me a Motorola modem/router for free when I signed up for Turbo (which they seem to have given to me as a permanent free upgrade) a while back.
