Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security (3 User) ~ Gain $30 AR/PM @ Office Depot ~ Ends 9/1/12 ~ YMMV
Office Depot sells Trend Micro™ Titanium™ Maximum Security, For 3 Users, Traditional Disc [officedepot.com] for $79.99. Best Buy offers the same Titanium Maximum Security 2012 (3-User)- Windows [bestbuy.com] on sale for $29.99 (with free shipping). Shop in-store at Office Depot or online at OfficeDepot.com and request a price match to Best Buy's current price. Then submit the $60 mail-in rebate [young-america.com] for the purchase Titanium Maximum Security 3 user at Office Depot between August 19, 2012 through September 1, 2012 for a net gain of $30 (less applicable sales tax paid on the purchase price).
Update: As an alternate target for price match at OD, Staples also offers Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security 2012 (3-User) Boxed CD [staples.com] (item no. 368172) on sale for $29.99 with free shipping. Additionally, Staples promotes the sale price on page 16 of their weekly ad [staples.com] for the week of Aug 26 through Sep 1; presenting a hard copy of the Staples ad may help with in-store price match at OD.
Note that this deal is YMMV as Office Depot typically will not PM if their after-rebate cost is lower than the competitor's point-of-sale price. However, once the price match has been secured, fulfillment of the rebate should not be a concern, as the rebate form states that the invoice or sales receipt must reflect a purchase price of $25.00 or greater.
The deal can be played a few different ways. One is in-store, but since Best Buy's sale price is not promoted in their weekly ad, you'll need to request a PM based on the advertised price on BB's website, so go prepared with either a printout of the web page, or display it on your mobile device, or have the ODer look up the item (SKU: 3140335) on BB's website. When you make your purchase, a rebate form will print after the receipt. The ODer may withhold it from you on the grounds that you received a price match instead. Not to worry, as you can use the printable rebate form [young-america.com] for your submission.
Another way to achieve the price match is to order by phone at (800) GO-DEPOT. You'll need to give the CSR the OD item number (710473) for the software. You'll then request a PM to BB's current price, providing the BB item number (3140335) so that the CSR can confirm the price. After the CSR applies the price match, you should also request that the delivery fee be waived, as BB offers free shipping on the software. If the CSR agrees to both the PM and the free shipping, then the software can be delivered to you at the address of your choice. If the CSR does not honor the free shipping offer, then a delivery fee will typically apply on orders under $50. However, you can avoid the delivery fee if you request in-store pickup. Be sure to request an order confirmation via email as you will need to include it when you submit rebate form [young-america.com].
A third option is to use online chat [officedepot.com] to order and request the price match.
Finally, note that the current rebate offer (Promo # 12-14225) differs from the rebate offer (Promotion # 12-87826) for purchases from April 29, 2012 through May 12, 2012, so even if you did the deal last time, you should still be eligible this time.
