I had a chapter 7 bankruptcy which was discharged seven years ago. Discover Card was one of the creditors which were included in the discharge. Just recently (the past month or so), I have been receiving pre-approved credit card applications from Discover about twice a week.

My credit is actually pretty good now since I Have been rebuilding it from day 1 after the bankruptcy (it is 706 on Credit Karma abd 726 on Quizzle, FWIW).

I was approved by Capital One about a year after the bankruptcy and they have increased my credit limit two or three times since then. I also have a retail credit card for a local tire/car repair shop and a Best Buy credit card which I had before the bankruptcy (it had a zero balance at the time so did not have to be included).

My question is, being in the market for a new credit card should I even bother turning in the application for the Discover Card despite their apparent desires to have me back as a customer?

Many moons ago when I was careless with money and credit, I had a Discover Card for which I didn't pay the bill and it went to collections. More recently, after I had rebuilt my credit and had a desireable credit score, I applied for and received a Discover Card with an immediate multi-thousand dollar limit.

Well you guys were correct! I went ahead and applied online and was indeed approved though I do not know what limit they gave me as of yet.

Interestingly, I was turned down for a credit limit increase on my Capital One card.

OK, found a status check online. Looks like they gave me a $5,500 limit

Glad it worked out. Don't fret about Cap1, they suck anyway.
