Mosquito & tick protection - 3M Ultrathon Insect Repellent $5.49 shipped (Amazon prime)

Needed something better than the cheap mosquito spray I had so went hunting for something better and found this.
3M Ultrathon Insect Repellent, 6-Ounce Spray (SRA-6) [amazon.com]

Really...whats the problem with it? According to the CDC, it's not a big deal at all since it started being used back in the 60's.

the gov says its fine and it may be fine, but spray some of that deet on a shotgun or rifle that has been camo dipped. it will start to 'boil' the camo off of it. if it can do that to the gun, whats it doing to your skin?

Seriously, I did look into the effects of DEET and like others have said it is deemed safe, especially at these lower levels. There are products out there with closer to 100% DEET. You also have to consider not providing adequate protection could be much more dangerous if you contract a life-threatening disease.

For what its worth, I decided to get the sawyer stuff thinking walmart would be cheaper then amazon. I bought 12 oz for $10 at walmart, then checked on amazon and saw they had twice as much for $3 more so I went with that. I have a thermacell but the first time I used it I swear I got kind of a buzz from it. Maybe it was too close to my face.
