Good middle-of-the-road desktop needed

Yep. After four transfers and 54 minutes on the phone, I was given a return number and UPS labels to return it. They said that I'll get the full price of the monitor refunded to me with no shipping costs or restocking fees. Mine was like $407 (monitor, taxes, recycle fee).

Wow, great deal if you only needed the computer. I have the opposite need: I want the monitor but no need for the PC. I will have to CL/eBay it.

Can you give me the details of how you were able to accomplish this? And have you gotten your refund yet? I would like to replicate this once I receive my order.

I would call Order Support at 1-800-624-9897 and select options to initiate a return. When you actually get to a live person, let them know that you'd like a price match. They will either let you know if it can be done or issue an RMA.

What if in the unlikely event that they do price-match? Or are you certain that they won't and that it's just a way to initiate a return? Couldn't I just tell them that I changed my mind about the monitor and would just like to return it?

Oh yeah, you sure can. Sorry, I applied my own logic here as I do want the monitor.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I just called customer service and told them that I wanted to return an order. I went through all the transfers, all the offers to give me a $20 credit, $30 credit, and then a $40 credit, and finally after telling the rep that I did not want the monitor for the 30th time, he gave me a return # and sent UPS labels to my email. It literally took 54 minutes, that wasn't an estimate or exaggeration.

The reason I gave was that I had received a monitor from a friend, and that I no longer needed the Dell monitor. UPS is supposed to deliver the monitor tomorrow, so we'll see how the money is credited back to me.

I had placed my order the other day and used a $500 GC that I bought along with the $75 promo GC and paid the remaining balance of $374.66 with a debit card. If all goes according to plan, they should give me the refund back to my debit card once I receive my order and return the monitor, that way I wouldn't be stuck with a Dell GC. But then again, I have little faith in those CSRs over in India,

I already have a pretty decent 24" monitor already and aren't really interested in keeping the monitor. Besides, I would highly doubt that they would price-match the new price based on the fact that the monitor was sold as part of a package deal and that it just so happens that the monitor was itemized on the invoice. IMO, the price-match just would not fly, and if I were the CSR, I wouldn't do it either based on what I just mentioned.
