for those of us who rely solely on usenet (no netflix, amazon VOD, all that other BS), this is hands down the best media player out there for under $100. plays every damn format except RMVBs (there is always someone who cares, but i personally don't). you never get any hiccups, the remote makes the interface feel slow, but you should just get the android/iOS app to control it. does a great job at media art too, theTVdb, themoviedb, etc are all supported.

Ummm, agreed that this device is the best of the worst in media players, but thats because there are stuff all options when it comes to finding a media player that actually works flawless at a good price. Have you seen this things UI? Its like its still in beta and has been for 2 years. Its a joke, with the thumbnails and movie sheets etc. Im still disgusted that WD would sell a beta product to consumers and not finish it via firmware after 2 years. BUT, it does play everything and if you can look past the UI, its a great device. NOTE: it will not steam high bit rate 1080p. Cant remember the exact rate caps, but regular blu rays (20-26GB) work ok. The newer movies (35GB+) fail on my WD Live.

Oh an another thing, its not gigabit!!! The company markets it as gigabit, but the device doesnt actually support it. WTF? Just google it, its all over the place. I have also tested it myself. Uses regular 10/100.

I have it and love it. I just watched The Cabin in the Woods last night. Amazing movie.

so i don't know which model you have, but i don't really experience any of those issues. i just watched the avengers as a bluray iso at a friends place, and it was buttery smooth. the movie sheets isn't that hard to figure out.

when sabnzbd+ unpacks everything, i have it rename movies to "Movie name (year).ext" ie: The Avengers (2012).iso, and delete pars, samples, etc.

for TV shows same except shows are placed into season folders, ie: "Downloads/Breaking Bad/Season 5", then the actual file is "Breaking Bad S05E02.mkv"

grabs all the artwork by itself, everything is organized. the only way i wouldn't go this route is if i can build a powerful HTPC for less than $150. XBMC's interface is unbeatable, but the price of building an HTPC that can flawlessly play bluray ISOs is hard. yes, the remote for this sucks, but otherwise its a great set up.

Wut? Try updating your firmware or changing the layout when browsing. This thing is awesome and the GUI is beautiful. Also, I believe this is one of the only DNLA streaming boxes that also support 1080p Netflix streaming. It plays every file I throw at it. It can also browse media servers or network file shares. I love mine.
