Now that we understand the process of activating the software, there should be no problems submitting the mail in rebate. Intuit has been processing these quickly for Payroll. I put my Payroll rebate in the mail yesterday, let's see how long it takes them to validate.

Yes, bummer. But last year I received the rebate in a reasonable amount of time. Nothing like SER but still pretty decent.

I was curious and did some checking as to why it takes so long and here is the reason.
1. You have to rely on snail mail.
2. They attempt to automate the reading of the form -- this rarely works except for the newer rebates that has specific blocks to fill in each letter.
3. A person then enters the data.
4. The requests get stacked until they are sent in a group to the sponsoring company on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule.
5. The company validates the entries or at least some of them chosen at random.
6. They schedule, through their finance department, when they could pay the handling company. If this is at a critical time and they are having a bad quarter, they may delay this distribution up to a couple weeks.
7. When the handling company gets paid, they then release the checks or paypal deposits to the individuals. Some handling companies try to delay this as much as possible to gain interest on the money they received from the corporation.

Crap, it's a wonder we get paid at all.

Here's hoping next week's offer will be able to be presubmit at intuitrebates.com like the Payroll rebate. Pre-type everything and all they do is scan the barcode to validate all your mailed in contents.

What is difficult about activating SS, I thought advance payroll was dependent on SS to exist,but SS by itself should be fine. Isn't it?

Where is the 20% coupon?

Payroll was not dependent on Quickbooks - you can activate Payroll by itself for now and add it onto QB later.
