I've been satisfied with 1SAD myself. Half my orders were painfully slow to ship, half were within a week. |

"We have reached the business end of the review. The previous sections presented the various aspects of the Roku 2 XS. For power consumption measurements, we connected the Roku 2 XS to a WattsUp Pro power meter. Netflix streaming consumed 2.4W on an average. At idle, the unit consumed 2W of power. At no point in time did we observe the unit getting unduly hot." http://http://www.anandtech.com/s...g-screen/8 |

I guess you just need to consider what aps do you want, and make sure the device you pick has them. Even then, the Roku player make work just a bit more smoothly than many blu-ray players. I've had both, and the Roku works like a dream in comparison to both my Sony blu-ray and the Samsung (which we eventually returned because it froze up all the time and made you keep re-logging in to Netflix). |

I would take my WD TV over my Roku any day.
I prefer to stream from my hard drive. I dont find many internet channels that the Roku uses very appealing. Netflix and Amazon - there's a lot of other devices that do both of those. An xbox 360 for example is not much more money and you get those features. Many streaming BD players do both of those as well. Just saying, if you are using it for a dedicated netflix/amazon player - there are other choices to research where you may get some more usable features. |

That being said...if you decide to keep the Roku, I think you'll be happy. I think it's better than the Sony. |

Looking at these Sony players now...Amazon has the Sony SMP-N200 Streaming Media Player with Wi-Fi for $48 now...camel shows it as lowest in a while. Last edited by XSection31; 08-31-2012 at 08:51 AM.. |

I have been a Roku owner for a few months now and the main selling point to me on the box was having the Plex app. Since I always have one computer on inter-network streaming is a much easier way to enjoy my local content. Plus, having a local hard drive connected to the box means I will have to pull a sneaker-net in order to update files on the drive. So I definitely agree with most people here that WD Live will play almost any format....but if you're willing to set up Plex, then that is a easy thing to get around as Plex plays anything I throw at it as well. And having Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon makes it easy to drop the cable too.
