I have had Roku's for a couple years and haven't found any good sports options. Though I'm not sure there is any good free options on any other streamer either. I'd say lack of sports is the main complaints I've heard about all the streamers in general.

I've been satisfied with 1SAD myself. Half my orders were painfully slow to ship, half were within a week.

Agree with this. Choose your priority and that will choose your device. WDTV plays almost everything I throw at it. It continues to surprise me. I wish it had Roku's channels, though.

The Roku will have more streaming options and probably a better interface/more user friendly than the streaming options on a blu-ray player. For instance, not all blu-ray players will have aps for hbo go, or Amazon prime. Some won't have Hulu Plus.

I guess you just need to consider what aps do you want, and make sure the device you pick has them. Even then, the Roku player make work just a bit more smoothly than many blu-ray players. I've had both, and the Roku works like a dream in comparison to both my Sony blu-ray and the Samsung (which we eventually returned because it froze up all the time and made you keep re-logging in to Netflix).

I would take my WD TV over my Roku any day.

I prefer to stream from my hard drive. I dont find many internet channels that the Roku uses very appealing.

Netflix and Amazon - there's a lot of other devices that do both of those. An xbox 360 for example is not much more money and you get those features. Many streaming BD players do both of those as well.

Just saying, if you are using it for a dedicated netflix/amazon player - there are other choices to research where you may get some more usable features.

I bought, then decided to cancel as I liked the sound of the Sony Streaming box. I didn't realize they can't cancel their orders. Boo!

Yeah, I've heard 1SAD is very hard to cancel. But you can just refuse the delivery and it will just go back and you'll be credited. Might take awhile before money is back in your account, but it is pretty painless.
That being said...if you decide to keep the Roku, I think you'll be happy. I think it's better than the Sony.

Thanks. I'm in the process of figuring out how to drop DirecTV and would have to add more streaming devices with the addition of at least one more computer. There will be an initial investment, but can save in the long run I guess.

Looking at these Sony players now...Amazon has the Sony SMP-N200 Streaming Media Player with Wi-Fi for $48 now...camel shows it as lowest in a while.

Is this better than WD + ?

There are many 100 times better boxes than wdtv like boxee,netgear 550,micca ep600,med1000x3d.

I thought WDTV can do online streaming content too. Roku cannot do streaming from your machine.

How are the news channels on Roku? Is there anything like the news channels for the Sony n200? My roommate has the n100 (from 1sad) and I like it. I need something for my bedroom with no cable and news is the number 1 requirement.
