Display ain't that bad --- you're getting what you're paying for, but even my early 2008 MacBook Pro's matte display is better side by side and to stare at long term. Quando omni flunkus moritati.

Went to best buy to try out similar models of 15.6 inches laptops. But this one is heavy, include number pads, which I don't particularly like. I was looking to get the Asus k55A at the store but found it to be heavy and didn't suit me. Only 14" now for me, cuz it's sleek and light.

the z575 or z580!?!?!
decisions decisions! I told myself I was going to save my money but I am in the market for a new laptop. I want to use my gateway nv5927u and use it as a htpc since it has the blu ray drive. which of the 2 laptops would be more suitable to do your everyday thing, but have good picture/video quality, and some light gaming (diablo 3)?? Will something better come along around BF? Insight please! Before they are OOS |

all i need to know if the build quality and reliability in terms of no overheating issues won't be a problem with this laptop. i've never owned a lenovo in my entire life or knew anyone who owned one. after taxes, 528$. the display is what i don't like though

%-wise I think this (i5 3210+GT630M) is slightly a better deal but they are both very good. It comes down to what your budget is & how much you're willing to spend, and what you really need it for...so both deals target 2 different audiences. This laptop is probably worth $600-$650 & targets the budget conscious, but we can get it for $480. (making this 20-26% savings) The other laptop is a high end laptop that's probably worth $1000-$1200 but you can get it for $879. (making it 12-26% savings). I don't think heat will be an issue with this. I've had the fan come on "high" and it's not really noticeable compared to my Mac. Note that I have the Staples HD 4000 model without the GT video card.
Stays pretty cool to the touch. Like all cheaper Windows laptops (and some really expensive ones), the trackpad sucks --- is way too sensitive. At least it's smooth (not textured like many) so doesn't grind the skin on your fingers. And the charcoal "brushed" semi-glossy finish really picks up the fingerprints. For the money most laptops will have a deficiency, nagging part of some kind and sometimes come with their own problems, wifi card not connecting, glossy screen, keyboard, touchpad comfort, hinges, electrical outlet, aesthetics, etc. So nothing is perfect. Even high end stuff isn't completely perfect. Since you have to pay tax, the deal isn't quite as good. Anything like this under $500 and it's a great deal. Since you have to pay tax in many other places then it maybe ok. ![]() http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...tcount=121 Everyone here is lucky this deal didn't sell out already. So sometimes you have to think later and just pull the trigger. Last edited by atoneapone; 08-31-2012 at 05:59 PM.. |
