Apple all the way, here, too. But I had a gun to my head to buy a Windows PC for a project.

Couldn't just use BootCamp or Parallels?

Yeah. Brrrrrr! Cold, considering I got mine for $449 a week ago at Staples (and maybe $349 if the Rebate gods are smiling). And that has a 750 GB hd with a FAR Windows 8 upgrade (not $15 like at NewEgg).

Edit: Was cold before the rebate was found. Now, pretty good.
but see the one at Staples just had integrated graphics

This has NVIDIA GeForce 630M added to it. The HD space means nothing with this deal.

NotebookCheck rates the HD4000 on par with a GT330. So, if that extra oomph to a 630 and less "other stuff" is something you want, by all means get out your wallet.

Are you serious? First, it's a NVIDIA GeForce GT630. Second, you don't know anything about integrated graphics versus dedicated graphics. You're not going to be able to play anything with integrated graphics. I have almost the same exact laptop that this deal offers and I can play new games on medium quality with it. Saints Row 3, GTA4, Deus Ex, BioShock 1 and 2, Mirror's Edge, LA Noire, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Portal 2 are a couple games I've played with the laptop. I'm telling you wouldn't be able to play any of the above games with the integrated graphics. It's definitely not an "extra oomph" and drive size means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when data space is of no importance especially when a standard 1TB laptop internal harddrive is less than $100. The same goes with the RAM once you go past 4GB there's no importance to it unless you're using digital editing software or data computation software. People are moving to solid state drives (SSD) which acts like RAM integrated with hard drive space.

no are you serious?

the 630 isn't anything special, yes its better than than the hd4000 but not that much.

not able to play anything? that depends on your definition of playing. obviously it wont run games at max setting but then neither will the 630.

Now for the games you listed... I'm not gonna go through all of them but.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqYRh8_-z04 - Saint Row
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9Z7jLPNVj4 - Deus Ex
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idCkc_ICj_g GTA 4

Sooo you were saying?

They have better CPU so the fps will be lower on this laptop, but it is the HD4000 and the vid with the GTA 4 its the same CPU.

The Lenovo you speak of only has Intel HD 4000 for graphic apps/games. Granted it's decent integrated graphics, but this deal is the first one with a true dedicated graphics card (GT 630M) for under $600.

Hopefully others will go more easy on the deal...
But I do agree that the Lenovo deal @$350 is the best deal of the year valuewise. This one may be the best "so far" with dedicated graphics.
Plus the $350 deal is dead OOS.
no man i gotten my Acer Aspire with Switchable Graphics Radeon 7670M for 499.99.... its a 17.3inch its not the only one out there.

True; unfortunately all of those deals (A6 7670m and Intel i5 6850m) aren't available online for a low price any longer.
I meant it's the first with a New CPU (Intel i5 3rd gen Iveybridge). Previously, they were all 2nd gen Intel cpus and AMD A6,A8 llanos.

Is it possible to replace the DVD-RW drive on this with a bluray drive? How much do these typically cost?

Thanks

Just for the reason that I would like it to be as portable as possible. I do have a desktop with a bluray drive. This laptop fits my bill in every way except the bluray capability.
