When I build a system for myself, I always go over 200-400 watts of my actual need.
Example: My system now: Intel i5-2500k @ 3.3 Ghz Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 Intel 160 GB SSD HD 6870/Vengeance1600 16GB HAF 932/XFX 850W Recently I purchased the New OCZ ZX Gold 850w fully modular for only $80. I will install it as soon as I find some time. Heck for a few dollars more, it gets substantially better efficiency, gives me lots of head room when I upgrade later down the road, and has really good reviews. I'd rather spend an extra $20-$30 on a quality PSU when it comes to personal computer builds. Soar |

Thanks op. great deal on a decent 500w psu.

The whole myth about needing a huge psu is from 3 factors: 1. Futureproofing your computer. If you buy bigger now, you wont have to buy a bigger one in the future? Maybe. 2. Bogus internet information about needing a huge psu. This has gone around now for years and it is difficult to fight. 3. Manufacturer recommendations. This is a dicey subject because despite amd requiring 500W for the 6870 amd only suggests this because actual ratings of a PSU vary by manufacturer and AMD is just playing it safe. If you have a quality psu like this corsair or an antec or enermax, etc, 500W is enough to crossfire 7970s. Last edited by MeatCatalog; 08-31-2012 at 01:38 AM.. Great rebate Companies:
Patriot Memory (4myrebate.com): 6 Weeks Tiger Direct (4myrebate): 3 weeks Rain-X (in house): 3 weeks BAD BAD MAIL IN REBATE COMPANIES: Xigmatek 26 weeks, 14 emails, 2 phone calls (finally received) NZXT 21 weeks, 4 phone calls. Check that was finally received was dated 2 months earlier with a 90 day expiration on it, giving me about 25 days to cash it. Shady shady shady. |
