Intel has the lowest ssd failure rate in the industry. But I'd probably buy an 830 or m4 for a lower price if one were available.
Intel also has worked a lot of firmware changes in to the sandforce based products that they claim will produce a longer product lifespan, so I don't think you can compare this to something like a cheap crappy OCZ drive, which have been selling at fire sale prices. For a reason.
I bought a 520 240gb A couple of months ago and the intel rebate was pretty fast to approve. It took 2-3 weeks to get the gift card in the mail.
I agree that I probably won't have this as my main drive in 3 years. Actually, I would hope that I have a new laptop by then. I only paid a small more ($10 i think) than the current Samsung 830 deal at the time, and figure an extra couple years of warranty wouldn't hurt for the extra cost.
