Get Applecare over half off + free software when buying a Macbook Pro!
I was in the market for a new Macbook Pro and did a lot of research for the best deal, and here is what I found. When you buy a Macbook Pro from http://www.bhphotovideo.com at the time of purchase if you add Applecare its over half off, plus you get FREE software and discounts on other items as part of a "custom bundle deal."
First off, their Macbook pro prices, though not the best I've seen, are cheaper then both Amazon and Apple:
2.5GHz dual 13" MacBook Pro - $1138.95 [bhphotovideo.com] Apple.com $1199.00
2.9GHz dual 13" MacBook Pro - $1444.95 [bhphotovideo.com] Apple.com $1499.00
2.3GHz quad 15" MacBook Pro - $1733.00 [bhphotovideo.com] Apple.com $1799.00
2.6GHz quad 15" MacBook Pro - $2059.00 [bhphotovideo.com] Apple.com $2199.00
But here is where the deal becomes slick, at the time of purchase you are given the option to add applecare at a HUGE discount! For example, the applecare on the 15 inch was only $122 (Goes for $345 at amazon, $349 at apple)! Plus you can choose FREE software (choice for me was between Filemaker PRo Bento and Parallels 7 ($59.99 value), and have the option to add other items at a discounted "bundle price." I added 16GB ram for $95.
With the money I saved I splurged for overnight shipping (arrives today) and was STILL a couple hundred bucks under what it would have cost if I purchased directly from Apple or Amazon.
Note: this is all done in their shopping cart. So simply add the computer, view your cart, and under the item is the oppotunity to add applecare for the discounted price. To add the free software and other accessories at a lowered rate, click on the "Select your Choice of FREE Software" link which is located right under the price on the right hand side of the shopping cart.
Hope this helps someone looking for a macbook pro.
