That may be true (and that is my agreement from just from my "personal" experience, which includes probably less than a few hundred occurrences, an insignificant sample size) but it is hardly a basis for making general statistical statements. I think the whole point here is to get away from what comes out as ignorant racially focused statements, which in fact here adds nothing to the factual content of the thread while adding to the overall racial ignorance of Americans (+ others) and perpetuates the idea that it is ok to continue to segregate and make race a relevant object in irrelevant discussions... i.e., franchises that do not follow corporate protocols should not attract racial generalities.

Franchise are like mom n pop shop. They have to ration everything, from napkins to ketchup and toilet papers. They usually will not have drink fountains at the front for you to gulp 10 glasses. I know everybody is trying to make a living. Some are not lucky or blessed as others.

I remember going to a Wendy (heavily franchised) and there are no soft drink fountains, so will not go there again and I drive 3 miles out to another Wendy.

I prefer corp companies.

I know nobody likes to hear ugly truth.

I don't know whether or not franchisees of the chains that you mentioned are usually owned by minorities. And even if they are, that has nothing to do with the issue of accepting corporate coupons.

There's no way to tell whether a BK is franchisee-owned or corporate-owned. Well, at least that's what the employee in the article said. I don't see that information on BK's website either. What window are you referring to?

I just got back from a BK.

The manager said those coupon on BK website are for illustration purpose only. She said the real ones are in the mail which my friend got and I didnt get from last week.

Anyway you can get 12 of each the same for like $1+ on fleabay.

$4.99 for 2 Original Chicken Sandwiches , 2 small fries

I tried that one and the BK store around my house couldn't find anything in their system, so it's a NO.

I've never heard of coupons being posted online for "illustration purposes only" (unless they are specifically labeled as being so, which these are not). It sounds like you visited a franchisee-owned location that doesn't accept them.

Besides, we know that they are real coupons meant to be used because BK linked to them on Facebook and many people have used them successfully.

Sounds like your franchisee-owned location doesn't have that coupon programmed into their system, just like the $7.99 Whopper Meal For Two deal mentioned in the Consumerist article.

I know. But I am not going to fight over it. I only eat burger once a week and I can go to other chain. I always use the back of the receipt and get a free whopper after buying a large onion rings and small drink n it comes up to $3.50 something.

Luckly I am not feeding a family.

Works at 2 of the Bks on Lancaster in Salem Or. The one by Petsmart and the other down by IGA.
Don't know about the one near Winco don't go there much.

Manager at my location always asks me to bring the coupon around the window before they submit because they "are not familiar with it." They tell me they are third-party franchised, but they always look and take it, no problems, so I can get my fix of crispy sweet potato fries!

My coupon cumns in the mail today! I thought I was never going to get one. I call up my elderly neighour and she gave me her booklet too. I know I can never use it all as I eat rice more often than anything else n I wonder why. :-)

Keep in mind that SOME McDonald's restaurants will honor competitor coupons for with their "like product." CALL your local McDs and ask if they honor competitor coupons. Then it won't matter whether BK has the coupon programmed in their registers.
