The DLP Link glasses will work straight out of the box with all Mitsu 3D TV's. I have a pair of these http://www.amazon.com/Optoma-BG-Z...B003Q96CCC btw. |

I have the 65" Mitsu, and the 3D looks great. No ghosting or other issues. The glasses I linked to are great... they are bulky however, and you cannot have a lamp on behind you, very annoying reflection if you do. |

Also an LED 55" (not branded) for 599 Cheapest 60" plasma with 600hz refresh rate and 3 mil contrast ratio was posted for 849-899. There are a ton of plasmas around 300-700 range for 50" and from 600-900 for 55-60". Still a decent deal on the dlp, but if you watch sports I think it's worth spending the extra money. Not downplaying DLP, DLP still has one of the best display technologies, but a plasma is better for viewing in a bright room + sports. This deal is essentially 600 plus including shipping and taxes. Free shipping
This TV would be perfect for my parents who are in the market for a big screen TV and don't necessarily need the latest LED or plasma. The only thing preventing me from recommending it to them was the $70 shipping charge. However, we were just at Best Buy and were able to order for free delivery to home. The $70 shipping is waived only if you order it from the store and not online. This may be YMMV as the Best Buy associate mentioned not every store may be able to ship it for free.

In any case I wouldn't buy a plasma tv unless I owned the local utility company. A 60" plasma will pull 2-3x the electricity required by any size DLP set, and put out a commensurate additional amount of heat that your air conditioning will have to pull out of the room. With my top tier electric rate running 45c/kwh, I think I'll have to pass on that. |

just want add my opinion, we have a WD-60C9 now 2 years old and on the same bulb....knock on wood, I have spare ready and they are only $99 from Mitsubishi.
We love the set, it is in our family room and we have no problems watching with the afternoon sun blaring though our west facing windows. this is a great deal imo. On a side note, I replaced an RCA 50 inch dlp from 2005, that one is now in the basement on the same bulb. The only thing I recommend on this set is to vacuum it out every year or so. seems to have helped mine live, perhaps? |

and i don't think a dlp will ever have a contrast ratio in the millions. i'm not really arguing that dlp is worse in terms of quality, just the fact is it isn't as bright, and the black levels are not superior to other technology. yes obviously you can still watch a dlp tv in the daylight but next to a plasma/lcd set it won't have deep black levels or appear AS bright. I just want to point out that unless you want to go really big (70-80 inch size) the difference in price isn't really that big. So unless you truly prefer DLP over plasma/lcd this is worth it. |

Going to stay out of the whole DLP vs the world debate, for me, the bang for buck DLP still can't be beat.
But here's my question - is this set with 3D worth it over the 73" from Dell? I have Discover card, so would get 5% cashback here, or 10% cashback on the 73". Unfortunately, living in TX, there is no way around the 8.25% tax both stores tho, bleh. But if space isn't an issue, would you rather have the 3D, or the extra 13" of screen space? |

http://reviews.cnet.com/green-tec...ion-chart/ This mitsu set uses .117 watts per square inch, although a pair of their 65" units are in the chart. There is one plasma sort of nearby, but most are in the .28 to .41 range, with some using .5 and up. If you sort by watts/square inch, of the top 19 in energy consumption 16 are plasmas. In the top 20...only 1. |

If it helps, we never watch the 60" in the other room now that we have the 73...
