You're correct. And let's assume that you're lucky to get these equipments at conservative prices from different places, it's not guaranteed that you got them all from an authorized dealer either. For someone who needs all of these, this is a Very good deal! But if you are looking to make some profit, this wont worth the hassle unless you Craigslist locally.
From a buyer's perspective, below is what I have to spend separately from Best Buy. Camera + lens kit = $4,300 600EX = $600 Grip = $300 64gb SD card = $50 I'm saving a thousand here, not including eBay bucks! |

And while my experience is not typical, many people who are looking at the 5d mkiii should already have an assortment of speedlites, whether it is the 580 or the 430. I already own the 24-105 and I'm happy with the lens. I'm not going to complain needlessly. If I recall correctly, the 5d mk iii doesn't take advantage of the UHS sd cards, which means that it caps out around class 10 which is around 30mb/second. It's 2 a.m. so I might be a tad wrong. And if you use a high speed compact flash card, the camera slows everything down to match the speed of the SD card. I won't say it is worthless, but I wouldn't want to use an SD card with the 5d mkiii. And I'm not going to argue the point about the battery... everyone wants additional battery life, but I don't find that it adds sufficient value to the deal that I am compelled to get it. Especially with the consideration/rumor that the price of the 5d mkiii should be going down in the near future with the addition of a rumored 6d (entry level full frame) or simply to approach the price of it's Nikon counter part. Price of new gear is always inflated and it should be coming down soon enough. I'm really in no hurry... but that is why I am tepid on the deal. It's not a bad deal... but 5% off is ehhh to me. Having a great time and visiting family are mutually exclusive.

Photokina is in two weeks and next year's models will be reveal for all the major companies. I wonder if that is why all these camera's prices are dropping lately. Maybe trying to get rid of inventory to prepare for the newer model.

I don't think Nikon and Canon would want to hurt the value of 5D Mark III and D800's by releasing cameras that compete with its own. There will be comparatively less features and probably one less chip for AF and not that good low light performance etc. Those entry level FFs will be competing with 60D,7D and T4i and D7000 etc. Again, this is all speculation ![]() Last edited by sabreindian; 09-01-2012 at 05:38 AM..
