Discover card - Sign up 5% Cashback bonus for 4th QTR

Thanks. I was frustrated I missed it on my shopping yesterday but will surely make up the max amount before Christmas.

You should see this once you logged into your account on your top right hand side. It should be there along with all the past/previous quarterly promotion. If you still don't see it then you're most likely not targeted.

When you login to your acct there should be a pink box on the right side of the screen that says CASHBACK BONUS and in that box there will be links to sign up for all the cashback promotions available.

I use my Discover for almost everything and never keep a revolving balance so I do not pay interest. I maximize cashback for my purchases but I hate Shop Discover. I find it hit or miss getting cashback from Shop Discover because there are crazy rules about how much time you have to make the purchase and not using coupons found outside the site. I'm much happier using Mr R*bates for merchant cashback ($2,000 cashback and counting since 2007 plus $100 click-through bonus last year) and using Discover for purchase cashback. I usually just spend the cashback on Amazon instead of getting giftcards but it has been a good program for me.

I called and the CSR said that the promotions DO stack. I asked specifically "So Sears has 10% cashback at ShopDiscover...?". She said, "You'll get 15% cashback". Be nice to get it in writing though..

So I sent Discover a message thru my account asking them if any kind of online transaction would qualify for the "all online shopping" 5% bonus for Q4 including making online payments to Netflix and my cell phone provider. They answered that these payments would be considered bills, which wouldn't qualify as merchandise purchases. I don't know whether Amazon Payments would be categorized as merchandise but keep in mind that not all online payments may qualify. Here's their reply:

Transactions posted for your cell phone bill and Netflix would not qualify for the 5% award for online purchases. These types of transactions are considered to be bill payments and not merchandise purchases. Any merchandise purchases made online will qualify for the offer.

Is the 5% off for all online purchases or only for online purchases from department stores?

I see my question was just answered in the previous post. With that said, it seems surprising that they would offer 5% off on all online purchases. I think I'll make an online purchase in 4Q at a non-dept. store and see if I get the 5% CB on my statement.

what's the difference between applying for discover Credit Card through Amazon and the discover website?

I hate Discover, they always dick me out of these deals! I followed the link and saw the offer *until* I signed in...then it disappeared! Typical.

dial number on your card you can sign up that way aswell.(all automated)
