Hey, this app may be great if you want to look at birds and learn about birds and whatnot, but I have a story to tell.

When I was a kid in grade school, we had a secret-santa exchange. Except it wasn't secret, we each had a partner and paired up. So I go out shopping and find something that I really thought my partner would like, I think it was a toy truck, and wrap it all pretty, and then come in on secret-santa day all excited. I spent so much time getting him a gift, what did he get me?

We do the exchange, and what did I get? A used book about birds.

Ok, so Christmas is about giving not receiving, but forget that! It's also about the thought behind the gift, and the thought behind his gift was "OH CRAP I FORGOT THIS SECRET SANTA LET ME GRAB A USED BOOK ON BIRDS OFF THE SHELF". I like to tell myself that maybe he couldn't afford anything more than a used book on birds, but I was also a poor kid and I got him this nice truck! That was it, from that day forward I decided that I hate birds. Spoiled by a used book about birds.

So be careful, if this app is not all you expect it to be you might end up ruining Christmas for yourself forever.

azzytee, that is such a touching story - seriously. I could visualize the whole thing in my mind. It's weird how the seemingly smallest thing when you're a kid can stick with you forever. Hmmmm - guess Alfred Hitchcock isn't your favorite director!?

hmm, so these birds are not angry?

Phenomenal app for anyone interested in birding. Has data on all north american birds and sample calls for many. It is sometimes very difficult to tell one bird from another even with a detailed guide, but the calls will often confirm the species. An iPhone at max volume will sound real enough to actually attract birds and get them to respond. No bull.
Probably worth every nickle at $15, but for a dollar it is a steal.
