Thread Details

Welcome all! Wave

Given the direction technology has taken us, this thread is looooong overdue. It will house all information regarding printing issues, NOT limited to Brick's, RedPlum, Java, etc. issues, it will also include information about printing to iPads (or other tablets), iPods, and the apps required to use those devices, i.e. AirPrint, Printopia, etc..

I am hoping that those who have achieved success with printing from tablets and i-devices will share their advice regarding purchasing printers that are compatible.

If you are aware of helpful/informative posts on SD regarding this topic, please use the wiki and link directly to those posts so that others can (hopefully) garner some good info, too.

THANKS!!!! Smilie

Now if only I could get SD links to qs to open. I guess my internet is not so scared of mommy blogs' links Scratchhead.
Have you tried acting like you are replying to the post with the link in it, copying the link and then pasting it yourself in the browser? I have to do that with the 'special' Publix links for Publix Paws.

Let me know if it works for you.

Check pop up blocker and may be try in another browser? I started using mozilla for betty crocker and smartsource qs instead of chrome.

Got a new printer/scanner--Brother J5520 to replace a Lexmark that continuously drops/loses coupons in a non-existant print queue? Anyhow, I was able to use 1/3 sheets of paper in that lousy Lexmark with little effort but cannot bypass the auto detecting of paper size in this Brother.

Sort of a strange question, but would love to be able to use those small sheets of paper for printing worksheet scenarios, single qs without worrying about ad following, etc. Anyone have any experience with this?

Printer has a tray and a manual feed and it can be set to accept legal envelopes which I figure are about the same size as a 1/3 sheet of paper but c dot does not allow you to interject paper size, etc before printing. Is there a default somewhere that I can change?

Might be a tradeoff for not losing qs, but neither option makes me happy.

Don't cut the paper and just swap out the other side to print. Then at least you get 2 prints from each sheet. (my HP at work does this, but I can't do a print preview at work and sometimes there's an ad or, remember the Kraft that all wanted to be printed separately.

Sorry I'm no help on your issue though.

does anybody know where the toner eye is on the brother HL-L2380DW is? i read that you can cover it w/ a sharpie or a post-it in another thread and it will just keep printing until you think it's too light. SO can't find it.

gg- i hope you get your paper 1ยข + sales tax at staples.

until i got the brother, i had an hp laserjet that would roll the paper thru so all printed paper was curled and if you tried to refeed any paper it would jam. other than that it always worked great. so i collect all the 2/3 and full sheets that have 1 line on them and give them to my neighbor for the kids to draw on. i keep the 1/3 sheets for shopping lists, notes, etc.

I don't know where the toner eye is on my brother 2240, but I googled and found if I hit my button 7 times, I can print more until the print gets light. There may be some other trick you can do besides that.

Wave I'm not computer literate... there, I posted it.

I've been beating my head against the wall pretty much all morning. The shoplocal smartsource coupons. I got the file saved, but I get an error to the gist of "a network setting won't allow you to open or print". Can someone who IS computer literate throw me a bone (ie, some help)? XP machine, running Firefox.
Directions pretty much need to be step by step by step. Don't assume I know what I'm doing, because most times, I don't Coverlaugh

First check if you have microsoft .net installed, it is not included with Win XP.
start/control panel/add-remove programs
microsoft .net [microsoft.com]

I assume you downloaded Adobe Reader DC? This is different from the old Adobe Reader
Adobe [adobe.com]

I have the first one.

When I attempted to download the DC reader, I got an error that it was already loaded on my machine... listings from the add-remove programs listing show:
Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX
Adobe Flash Play 18 NPAPI
Adobe Reader XI (11.0.08)
Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1

I'm making the assumption that the Reader XI isn't what I really need for shoplocal though.

I know my Adobe Flash is old, but at least that way SD doesn't play ads all day long (and me not know how to stop them... my internet slows to a crawl when this happens).
