I have two of these 120GB Vertex Plus R2 drives from the 1SaleADay sale back at the end of July, and been using one of them since I got it as a system drive for Windows XP Pro. I know XP doesn't have SSD optimizations, but it seems to give app loading a significant boost. MS Office 2010 usually loads before the splash screen can get through one cycle of its animation.
It's only SATA II, which is what my motherboard has (5 year old ASUS P5K-E Wifi w/ C2Q Q6600) and the other is going in my Toshiba A135 laptop, also with SATA II. SATA III would be a waist for me until I build a new rig. At that point, there'll be better deals. I am surprised there hasn't been any haters in this thread yet, usually the OCZ threads start a flame war... Maybe they haven't woken up from their all night gaming sessions yet? lol |

I got one of these on a daily deal and the other on the recent $40 newegg steal. Going to RAID 0 these bad boys. The single drive is very fast, I had Windows 7 installed in 8:20 and boot time dropped to under 20 seconds. It's SATA II, but hey that's a hell of a lot faster than an HDD.
Considering price/storage/performance, I think it's well worth it. I could have spent like 150+ for 240gb worth of a RAID 0, but for sub 100 I am able to have the 240gb storage I need and still have great speed. |

I'm still ready to jump on the right OCZ deal if it's cheap. Both my sons would like to try SSD in their game rigs. I've been running the Intel 320 80g for my boot drive since a deal last January, and just got in on the Kingston HyperX 120g for my Steam games and apps to upgrade next. THANKS OP! |

I remember when OCZ was admired for their other items and probably still is but man, this SSD thing is killing their reputation and shows they don't mind screwing their customers and flush their loyalty down the drain. I don't know, but it been way too long the their SSD have been giving people the bitter taste and still it seems OCZ isn't doing anything to make it better. If it is SF, then get rid of SF and go with something else. If it is QC, then they are really getting bad.
