[DEAD] Lenovo ThinkPad X230 Laptop - $558 or better
Deal is dead.
Update: No order cancellations yet.
Update: Credit cards have been charged.
Update: Orders placed prior to 10PM ET appear to be released to manufacturing. Orders placed afterwards are processing (fingers crossed).
Lenovo.com
1) Configure a X230 (laptop, not tablet). Works on "ThinkPad X230 Laptop " and "ThinkPad X230 Laptop with Faster Processing".
2) Change the processor to the slowest option, Core i3-3120M, and leave it there. The price on the right will reset to NA.
3) At this point, you have to add components until the price reaches the ordering systems minimum price (somewhere around $550, at which point NA changes to the price of the system, which should be a good $600 less than normal). Accessories and warranties seem to work differently and appear to raise the minimum price.
If you don't add enough stuff to make the NA turn into a dollar amount, you will be able to add the laptop to the cart, but it will not be orderable. It will throw an error and tell you to contact customer service. So make sure NA changes to some number before adding to the cart.
I added the following and got a price of $628.
-Premium HD display, 2x2 antenna
-4GB DDR3
-Backlit keyboard
-320GB HDD
-ThinkPad Series 3 Ultrabase
-DVDRW for Ultrabase
-6 Cell battery
-6 Cell external battery
-Bluetooth 4.0
-Intel WiFi 2200
-Webcam
The cheapest system I could configure was $558 (that was in "ThinkPad X230 Laptop with Faster Processing", but that option forces Windows 7 Pro, so it may deliver a lower price but you won't get as many accessories/upgrades).
Note: If you add and then remove the ultrabase, you will need to start over. The price will stick at NA. Make sure you add the ultrabase and don't remove it.
Amazon payments and PayPal failed for me, but Lenovo checkout worked just fine. Got confirmation email a few minutes ago.
Good luck!
