The next and more important problem is ghosting. The set I bought suffers from some very annoying and distracting ghosting. If you don't know what that is, Wikipedia Ghosting (television). Again, this is an issue that will bother some more than others. It's only noticeable when there's fast motion on screen. If you're a videogamer, you will notice this every time you look around (in an FPS, for example). I have yet to test this on every game, but it occurs in Batman Arkham City, Infamous 2, and Battlefield 3. It doesn't necessarily interfere with gameplay - i play these games just fine. It's just distracting when you look around too quickly. Again, i must emphasize this is a problem that not everyone will be bothered by. Youtube "plasma ghosting" to judge for yourself.

you see for me, wifi/smart tvs are kind of redundant. I have an xbox 360 if I want it to be a smart TV. I'm looking for best PQ, and I don't think any vizio or LG lcd will do it.

Im considering this TV. How does it compare to the LG 50PA5500? I'm not an expert, and would appreciate any advise. The LG seems to have a much higher Contrast Ratio: 3,000,000:1.

I went into the store and every geek squad guy said that Panasonic Plasma is the way to go.

I went against their recommendation due to brand loyalty and got the 50" LG Plasma Model 50PA5500. This TV was fine, but the white levels just couldnt hit the mark(seemed dirty) without compromising the blacks.

Contrast ratios are notoriously unreliable because each manufacturer might have their own way of assessing or describing it. There is no single uniform method by which they all measure it, which leads to some wild variances. Bottom line: There's no way the LG is significantly higher than Panasonic in terms of contrast ratio.

As far as the LG model you referred to, its "just some guy on the internet" but I noticed the first user review on Amazon has compared these two TVs:

Just did a successful price match with Amazon over the phone for $598. I explained the TV was identical, just issued a different model number for distribution to Sam's Club stores. I suspect he let it slide because the difference was only $34. But, no tax and free ship sounded good to me!
