The issue is not a choking hazard for which they obviously can't ban everything small. The problem here is that small children tend to put anything in their mouths, especially nice round shiny things. In virtually all cases, anything they can swallow will just come right out the other way. With these magnetic balls, they have a tendency to stick to each other in the intestines causing perforation or other severe injury that is potentially fatal.

So these are not like paper clips, coins, or staples - normal choking hazards which aren't a problem if swallowed. These are essentially a poison if swallowed and can and have killed.

I can't imagine using a product which isn't just a potential danger but a definite danger if swallowed around small children.

We have millions of things around us that can kill us instantly upon swallowed. It is our jobs as parents to prevent that. The kids in the lawsuit, and if I remember correctly, were under the recommended age of 12, therefore it is the parents fault for providing such "toys". Would I leave an open bottle of nitric acid with a kid around? I would not provide this to someone who sticks everything in their mouth. My point being, the parents in the lawsuit were at fault for providing the "threat" to their children.

I have an AWFUL memory, but I think that the small Consumers' Report article indicated that there was a death resulting.

I just checked the CPSC website and there were no deaths but 11 surgeries noted. I do know, however, that many people have been killed by toppling soda machines so I think we should ban those.

yeah I saw the video and TBH it gave me pause but in the end the 60% off was the deciding factor.

The video caused me to hesitate not because the "tests" that were performed were decisively in favor of Zen (In fact, IMO they showed only the slightest of edges to Zen) but because the farking buckyballs CEO looks/seems/appears to be exactly the type of person I hate.

But again.....60% off is hard to pass up.

If I were Zen I'd make the smart move and offer up something similar before they're put out of business (just in case youguys are listening because somehow I bet you are).

Yeah.... some of you got it right. The U.S. is in the process of suing BuckyBalls for selling a potentially dangerous toy simply by labeling it as an 'adult toy'....In the near future, there will be no more BuckyBalls.

My point being that the suite was dumb, and unfortunately, thats how our govt runs.
