Sorry if it is OT. I just did 3 transactions today, those purchases were in ONE Walgreens store. My total and tax amount look very strange. Planning to call Corp regarding this, however, I am very appreciate if there is any explainnation from the board.
My first transaction:
1 Air Allergy + 1 Arizona Tea + 1 Butterball Chicken Broth.
= $9 + $.59 + $.50 = $10.09. Use $10RR from Gillette Razor.
Subtotal = $0.09
Sale Tax (8.25%)= $.074 ????? (I guessing this $.74 tax is from $9 Air Allergy, from my previous shopping experience, walgreens they do not charge tax on medicine)
Total = $.83
Second Transaction:
1 Air Allergy + 4 Liter (clearance. $.44 each)
=$ 9 + 4x$.44 = $10.76
Use $10RR from Gillette Razor
Subtotal = $.76
Sales tax (8.25%) = $.06 (look like $.76x8.25% = $.06)
Total = $.82
Third Transaciton:
1 Air Allergy + 2 Arizona Tea
= $9 + $1 = $10
Use $10RR from Gillette Razor
Subtotal = $0.00
Sale Tax (8.25%) = $.74 (<---- from my shopping experience, if my subtotal is ZERO, then I won't be charge for any sale tax)
Total = $.74.

I am very confuse how Walgreens charge their tax in my transaction. My 1st transaction subtotal is less than my 2nd transaction, however, my tax amount is more than the 2nd one. I have to pay tax on the 3rd transaction even my subtotal is Zero???

IIRC, it was reported in previous WAGS weekly threads that the $2 & $3 Cottenelle RRs will *not* roll into each other. In addition, if you use a $2 Kleenex RR to pay, the Cottenelle will not print since both are Kimberly-Clark products & the RRs are coded the same.

Did you notice if they scanned the RR each time, or did they manually type the numbers in during one or two of those transactions? It definitely shouldn't matter, but other weeks the tax was different depending on whether they scanned the short or long bar code, back when the RR's had the 2 separate codes. The $.74 is $9 x .0825, but makes no sense why you were not charged the same with all 3 transactions. I would most definitely call and complain.


Has anyone bought the ID gum today to see if there is still no limits on the number we can buy per transaction?

Thanks for the reply. The cashier scanned all 3 RR, did not manually input. However, I did not know did he scan the long or short bar code.

There's only one bar code now. I just mentioned that because things have been weird with transactions and scanning RR's before, as far as tax charged.
