mbp is thick! i think the retina/air are the only macbooks worth buying, they're in their own class.

there's a couple pc alternatives to the mbp.

only things i dont like about the air are the nonremovable battery and pcie ssd

The graphics will likely barely match AMD's first generation A series, and an AMD based system will still get better battery life because of power savings elsewhere on the motherboard. By the time Intel knew that AMD had them beat in ULV it was too late for Intel to do all that much about it with Haswelll.

Intel needs to set up with a full SoC for x86 if they want to keep their Apple contract going. Their process advantage won't keep them out in front of all the other semiconductor firms much longer --especially with IBM back in the fab game.

I'll never buy a PC that I have to void the warranty on just to upgrade any form of memory. Apple won't ever get another dime from me if they choose to deep six upgradability completely.

coconut battery... nice free utility if you don't have it. Sitting at 7W right now. Based on the 35 Wh battery and 5+ hour battery life, I'm pretty sure it is accurate.

Got shot down for a price match at Best Buy but there are no Frys in our area.

if i am looking between this latest model and the previous 2011 model, at what price does the 2011 model make more sense? if i can get the 2011 model for 800, is this worth 200 more? not that i can get this deal right now (no frys) but in case it happens via a PM or in future..
