Personally I dont know if I would go for a refurb dlsr but good deal. I paid full price for my new one and its worth every penny. Being a first time dslr user, I am 101% satisfied with the D5100. Excellent image quality and low light performance. Love the menu UI as well, the settings and visual aid (shutter, aperture etc.) are very helpful for newbie dslr users.

I bought a refurb D50 years back from Adorama, and it's still going strong. Granted I'm not a pro photographer taking thousands of pictures every week, but I've still put close to 20,000 shutter releases on it and have never had to do more than clean it as far as maintenance is concerned. The built-in motor does have its benefits as noted previously in this thread as older very good quality lenses can be purchased at significantly lower prices than new.
